Junior School Scholarships

Academic Scholarships

  • Offered to students who will commence Years 5 or 6 in 2018 at St Anne's Campus and Bairnsdale Campus.
  • The tenure of these scholarships is until the end of Year 12, and will be reviewed from time to time, on the basis of continued good academic progress.
  • These scholarships are awarded to students whether or not they currently attend Gippsland Grammar.
  • Candidates for the Years 5 and 6 Academic Scholarships will be required to sit for the ACER Primary Scholarship Examination (PSP) on Saturday 25 February 2017.

Music Scholarships

  • The School will award scholarships to students who demonstrate strong musical potential, entering Years 5 or 6 in 2018.
  • Students who are not currently a student at Gippsland Grammar may apply for these scholarships.
  • Candidates for the Music scholarship are not required to sit for the ACER Primary Scholarship Examination, however, they are welcome to do so if they wish.
  • A Music Scholarship application form must be completed by the candidate applying for the Music Scholarship.
  • Students who wish to be considered for the Music Scholarships should be talented and dedicated students of music.
  • There is a recommended minimum standard of a high pass in Grade 2 AMEB or equivalent for Years 5 or 6, however, consideration will be given to students with limited experience but who show strong musical potential.
  • Music Scholarship holders are required to participate fully in the School’s musical life. This includes performing short recitals, either solo or with piano or orchestral accompaniment, at weekly assemblies, soirees, concerts and other school functions.
  • Students will be interviewed by the Principal and the Director of Music and will be required to audition before the Director of Music and/or staff nominated by the Director of Music.
  • Auditions for Music Scholarships will take place at the School during the first two weeks of May.
  • At the audition the applicants will be asked to present a performance program consisting of at least two contrasting pieces of music on their instrument. If the student has a second study instrument they are welcome to perform on that instrument as well, if they would like to, although this is not essential.
  • Applicants will also be given some sight-reading and aural tests at their approximate grade level and these will be followed by an interview with the panel.

Junior Entry Scholarships

  • The School will award scholarships to students of high academic ability, entering Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 in 2018. These scholarships will be offered to students who are not currently attending Gippsland Grammar.
  • The scholarships will carry between 20% and 33% remission of tuition fees.
  • All candidates for the scholarships will sit for an age and year level appropriate examination. Areas tested will be reading, mathematics and story writing.
  • Scholarships are tenable for the whole period of primary schooling, and are re-awarded annually provided that the holders continue to show good academic progress and contribute to School life. Students awarded a scholarship in Year 6 carry it until the end of Year 8.
  • Entries close at the School on Friday 28 July 2017.
