In Years 7 and 8 students take courses designed to cater for all abilities with more able students being extended with Maths Challenge and weaker students given extra numeracy support.
Year 9 maths is designed to cover all CSF strands in mixed ability classes while in Year 10 students with a strong algebra base are grouped together. Again the challenge and enrichment stages of Maths Challenge are offered for the more able students. At midyear, Year 10 students not intending to study Maths Methods in year 11 are offered a less rigorous maths course.
At VCE level the various courses offered are designed to enable students to develop their mathematical skills and knowledge, to apply these skills to analyse, investigate, model and solve problems and to use technology as an effective support for their learning.
